Conventional method is not correct because of improper division between reciprocating and rotating weights; usual formula of one half reciprocating plus rotating weights gives correct balance where reciprocating and rotating weights are correctly determined; formula found by COPPENS gives correct balance; etc. (see also abstract in Automotive and Aviation Industries v 93 n 5 Sept 1 1945 p 40, 110, 112, 114)
