Design of large aircraft has been seriously impeded because of lack of accurate knowledge of basic loads resulting from maneuvers; with advent of wire resistance strain gages, measurement of maneuvering loads in flight becomes possible and feasible; paper describes some of work carried on along this line at Lockheed Aircraft Corp. Before Inst Aeronautical Sciences. (See also J Aeronautical Sciences v 12 n 2 Apr 1945 p 195-202)
