Account of work in construction of airport runways, in which author was associated, carried on during 1944-45 on one of small islands in chain which extends westward from Alaska Peninsula; taxiways, hard stands and aprons were given almost more attention than runways, because static load of airplane must be supported more frequently, and for longer periods, in these areas.
