It is shown how different inventors, by combining gear drive with electric drive, have achieved advantages of both types of drive and eliminated disadvantages; illustrated description of Entz Crown, Goetz, Vollmer and AEG, Kaestner, and Neuland electromechanical gears (See Engineering Index 1941 p 111); comparison with usual Diesel electric drive.
