Illustrated description of Airflex clutch which consists of ringshaped cord-reinforced rubber gland of special form, somewhat resembling motor car tire in that it contains cavity which serves as compressed air receiver; walls of gland are flexible, and admission of air to cavity results in dilatation of gland, with consequent engagement of friction surfaces; device is particularly suitable for Marine Diesel engine drives.
