Powered airplanes may prove too expensive for those who wish to continue flying in post war and gliding may provide outlet; gliding may develop, in relation to flying, place that yachting has in relation to merchant marine, only less expensive; design and performance of sailplanes are dealt with, taking into account original cost of production and cost of maintenance.
