At Altoona Works of Pennsylvania Railroad, 25 4-cyl steam locomotives for freight service, developing more power in their working range than any steam locomotive built previously, are being constructed; they develop max tractive effort of 99,860 and 114,860 lb with booster, and are designed to haul trains of 125 loaded cars at speed over 50 mph.
