Empire Elaine and Empire Viceroy designed and built by Vickers-Armstrongs Ltd; motor ship Empire Elaine has length oa 433 ft 5 in.; breadth molded 66 ft 6 in., equipped with 120-ton derricks, and is propelled by 3-cyl Doxford opposed piston, reversible oil engine developing 2500 bhp at 108 rpm; steamship Empire Viceroy also equipped with 120-ton derricks is propelled by single screw driven by set of Parsons turbines through double reduction gearing.
