Particular reference made to motor ship Empire Metal, designed by Admiralty Shipbuilding Dept, and built by Harland and Wolff, but notes may be regarded as representative of oil carrying ships of 12,000 ton deadweight: propelled by 8-cyl, pressure charged Harland-B and W 8-cyl, single acting, 4-cycle engine; below dry hold forward, deep tank for oil fuel is arranged, further oil fuel capacity being provided in deep tanks aft, and in double bottom in way of machinery space.
