Paper comprises number of metallurgical observations on rails, and is broadly divided into consideration of various metallurgical characteristics of rail steel; plea for agreed and logical classification of rail failures, and study of various trials which have been or are being made to cure or control certain well known defects. From paper before Instn Civil Engrs. (see also Engrs' Digest (American Edition) v 2 n 2 Feb 1945 p 96-7)
