Description of mine of Carey Salt Co, near Hutchinson, Kan; shaft is 680 ft deep, with skip loading station at 645 ft; salt is hoisted in 4-ton skips, and maximum hoisting rate is 1000 tons in 8 hr; run-of-mine salt is put through jaw crusher set to a 1 1/2-in. discharge, then screened and recrushed in hammer mill to minus 1/2-in., then re-screened; six different sizes of salt are produced; mining methods; shuttle car operating data.
