Retractable hull, patented by J. D. RENNIE in 1940, incorporated in Blackburn B.20; plane is medium size, general purpose, high wing, cantilever monoplane boat of all metal construction with twin motors carried in nacelles mounted on leading edges; in lower position hull and mainplane assume best attitude for take-off, while in retracted position planing bottom or pontoon fit snugly to hull, and whole forms good streamline form.
