Illustrations given depict machinery of U S Battleship Kearsarge (now U S Navy floating crane) as it is today and substantially as it was when installed at Newport News in 1897-98; 11,250-ton ship was 368 ft long, with beam 72 ft 2 1/2 in., and mean draft 23 ft 6 in.; equipped with four 13-in., four 8-in., and 14 5-in. guns; engines produced 11,500 ihp; vessel now has 250-ton marine crane and propulsion equipment comprises two 3-cyl triple expansion reciprocating engines.
