New 2-stroke slow running design for mercantile ship propulsion is based on normal unsupercharged engine, which has cylinders longitudinally scavenged; fuel injection system is arranged with two valves for each cylinder; cylinders are cooled by fresh water and pistons by lubricating oil; engines are available in outputs up to 12,500 bhp in 10 cylinders; diagrams.
