Paper reviews processes which are currently used in prediction and prevention of aircraft flutter; more recent types of flutter which have had to be considered are discussed in relation to methods developed to deal with them; ground and flight testing methods; specific subcritical response problems, namely, response to isolated and continuous gusts, response to buffet, and undercarriage problems.
