Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS) automatically controls response of vehicle without intervention of pilot except to engage system, select functional modes, and initiate commanded responses; self-adaptive control system (SACS) controls dynamic performance of AFCS; basic elements and operation; techniques for adjusting characteristics of one element or system to another, such as implicit adjusting technique; factors in selecting digital vs analog implementation are required solution time, compatibility with associated functions, reliability, etc; AFCS flow diagram for application of SACS in boost-reentryvehicles is shown.
