Great Britain and United States have bilateral agreement on airworthiness certification, and emergency-exit requirements laid down in British Civil Airworthiness Requirements (BCARs) and American Civil Air Regulations (CAR) are similar, but not identical; differences are pointed out; how requirements evolved; various design problems and solutions; some typical configurations, DC-8 and Boeing 707 (Series 120, 220, 320, 420), Caravelles 3, 6 and 10B, Trident IC, Trident IE, standard VC10, and Boeing 727, are considered; evacuation tests carried out by air lines.
