Because of high number of false fire warning incidents occurring aboard aircraft, increasing attention must be given to improved fire detection and extinguishing systems; solutions to problem were directed toward improving specific components of systems; limitations of loop system, spot fire detection system and optic system; details of Lindberg fire detection system which is capable of detecting fire and/or overheating conditions by arithmetic averaging and "discrete" response; details of responder and sensor element; principle of detecting remote fires by arithmetic temperature method.
