Summary of present-day knowledge of electrostatic charging and discharging processes in relation to aircraft refueling with emphasis on National Research Council program conducted in cooperation with RCAF, Shell International Research Maatschappii and Shell Canada Ltd, at RCAF Station Winnipeg; factors affecting charge generation, namely, conductivity of fuel passing through filter, condition of filter surface where charge separation takes place, and fuel flow rate; electrostatic discharges and ways of reducing chances of electrostatic discharge occurring; results of investigation.
