Reference is made to papers by P.Satre and A.E.Russell, before general assembly meetings of AICMA and Eurospace in London which outlined basic concepts of pioneer SST design; preliminary research carried out by Sud Aviation on optimum design for Mach 2.2 airliner; search for optimum wing satisfying aerodynamic objectives established led to concept of gothic-wing planform with single fin; wing characteristics and flying qualities; approach taken to structural materials; cutaway drawing showing recent changes to overall configuration such as circular engine effluxes, V-windscreen, and fairings over split-rudder operating jacks.
