Tri-Service XC-142A tilt-wing, turbo-propeller V/STOL cargo assault aircraft, under development by LTV Vough, Ryan Aeronautical Co, and Hiller Aircraft Co, is designed to transport and air drop combat troops, equipment, and supplies from unprepared areas under all weather conditions; aircraft is powered by four General Electric T64-Ge-1 engines, qualified for vertical operation; integral gearcase concept provides light weight compact design by transferring propeller bending moments directly into structural housing; test and development program; PITS (Propulsion Integrated Test Stand) consisting of transmission system and associated controls, and PITS test program.
