Ten-station multi-spot automatic transfer machine for resistance welding underbody assemblies of vehicles in Fiat 1300 and 1500 range is installed at Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy; line requires only 4 operators and makes 948 spot-welds in 30 sec cycle, without any manual welding operations; work-transfer is effected by shuttling conveyors; first 5 stations in line are for welding of rearmost part of underbody unit, and remaining 5 for front portion; machine layout and transfer operations; welding fixtures; there are 750 electrode pairs in transfer-line; total power rating for welding function is 1200 kva, and for electric motors 610 kw; calculated overall power consumption is 12,650 kva.
