Advantages of slipper pump design; unusual characteristic of pump is that 2 pumping actions occur simultaneously during operation; rotation of rotor in eccentric housing bore causes slippers to act as vanes and pistons, i.e. vane pumping action results from expansion and contraction, during rotation, of space between slippers that is inside bore and outside rotor periphery; piston pumping action results from radial stroking of piston-like slippers during rotation which expands and contracts spaces under them inside rotor slots; utilization of these actions in 2 automatic transmission pumps and in power steering pump are described.
