Most automobiles, at certain speeds with at least one window open, develop pulsating pressure which is felt mainly through ears and is objectionable to occupants; while "aero-dynamic wind throb" is noticeable over range of speeds, there is fairly pronounced peak in effect at one speed; problem is studied analytically and experimentally; it is established that car is dynamic system consisting of Helmholtz resonator excited by edge tone; trouble can be corrected by changing natural frequency, minimizing or eliminating excitation, or increasing damping of system.
