Spacecraft will be launched from Woomera, Australia, early in 1971; expected operational lifetime in orbit is 1 yr; objectives are to prove new PCM telemetry system which will satisfy requirements of Black Arrow series of satellites, to prove new power supply equipment for use in any Black Arrow satellite with electrical load of less than 30 w, to test new thermal control surface finishes and new solar cell assemblies, including ultra light weight cells and cover materials, and to determine flux of micrometeoroids; structural features of spacecraft which consist of center box assembly, top and bottom closures, fillets and modules; major items of internally mounted equipment are also described.
