Wavemaking resistance and free-wave spectrum of simple ship having parabolic water-lines and rectangular frames (length/breadth equals 20, draft/ breadth equals 3) were calculated by first-order thin-ship theory (Michell's theory) and compared with experiment; there is fair agreement between theory and experiment in range of Froude numbers 0.2 to 1, except for discrepancy in phases of free waves which increases with decreasing Froude numbers.
