Mechanical actuation of thrust units has been found to be lightest and most desirable method for stabilizing electrically propelled vehicle during thrusting phase of Jupiter flyby mission; nominal mission, spacecraft disturbances, attitude control options and basic selection criteria are noted; mechanical actuator types are discussed and actuator requirements stated; initial mechanism design for accomplishing necessary movement with required accuracy and reliability is detailed.
