Paper deals primarily with development and operation of small, flight-type gas chromatograph unit incorporating gas volume meter for monitoring in-flight respiration of astronauts within Apollo spacecraft; system consists of micro components, including packed column capable of separating oxygen and carbon dioxide with flow rate of about 2 cc/min small, light injection valve with zero dead volume, thermal conductivity detector, and amplifier system that integrates areas of components of interest; analysis of CO2 and O2 is completed within 30 sec; unit has completed series of rigorous space flight qualification tests.
