For space thermal control computations, use of directional reflectance of vehicle-surface materials is required; experimental measurement of bidirectional reflectance, problems that require use of this type information, and complexities of application of data are presented; use of bidirectional data to determine luminance of Apollo mission Lunar Module vehicle in vicinity of moon is shown; details of apparatus used for measurements and computer methods for determining luminous flux to observer; results show that reasonable agreement is obtained between experimental-analytical approach and model simulation studies.
