Characteristics of minimum total-impulse solution of two-impulse orbital transfer are analyzed; geometric approach in velocity space is adopted; by using two single-impulse transfers optimized at initial and final terminals separately, possible locations of two-impulse optimum points in hodograph plane are determined; some vital questions concerning optimum solution, such as presence of extraneous roots of governing optic equation, appearance of unrealistic optimum, existence of multi-optimum are critically examined, and pertinent criteria derived; geometric insight into optimum condition is presented, and simple law resembling Snell's law in optics is found, which appears as law of equal slope in certain simple cases.
