Re-entry vehicle landing ability and control; study of control and stability aspects of spacecraft just prior to and during touchdown does not cover vehicle configuration selection; criteria for landing systems, based on available knowledge, are presented for low L/D spacecraft, horizontal landing spacecraft, and vertical-descent powered-landing spacecraft; various concepts of nonmaneuverable and maneuverable landing systems are described, analyzed from stability viewpoint, and compared.
