Digital computer proved to be effective tool in attaining optimum use of limited street capacity at Wichita Falls, Tex; traffic control by computer has reduced vehicles stops by 16.3%, average vehicle delays by 31.1% and accidents by 8.5%; total of 77 intersections are under computer control in two systems; computer has core storage capacity of 16,000 words and uses cards along with typewriter console for entering and printing out information; single magnetic disk, capable of storing 512,000 words of information, is used to store programs and traffic flow measurements.
