Bisphere pressure hull for Deep Quest (DQ) utilized 18% nickel maraging steel at yield-strength level of 175 ksi, while trisphere pressure hull required by Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV) was fabricated from HY-140 at 140 ksi yield strength; information is given about material selection and processing methods, design methods and determination of fabrication tolerances, and key fabrication procedures of welding, machining, assembly, and tolerance control.
