Built for Shipping Div of Dept Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland, passenger/vehicle ferry Hebrides was built by Hall, Russell and Co and will be managed by David MacBrayne Ltd; length oa 235 ft, breadth molded 43 ft 6 in., draft loaded 9 ft, gross register 2100 tons; 600 passengers and 50 vehicles can be carried; decontamination chambers, sprinkler cleansing system and air-lock-type double doors to give protection to passengers and crew in event of nuclear fallout are provided; two 8-cyl, 1200 bhp at 470 rpm Crossley engines are fitted; plan.
