Marconi International Marine Co, in cooperation with Townsend Brothers Ferries, installed closed-circuit television in cross-Channel car ferry Free Enterprise to evaluate possibilities of this aid in docking and harbor maneuvering; 2 fixed aspect cameras were mounted on port and starboard guard rails at after end of boat deck and display monitors were placed in port forward corner of wheelhouse; tests were carried out successfully; alternative arrangement is also noted; ship of 2600 tons gross is 316 ft long.
