Steel and aluminum lift boat, of type now in service with U S Coast Guard, will be tested in England for possible adoption; design features use of mild steel for bulkheads, hull framing, raised decks and cockpit deck; shell plating is in 3/16 in. low carbon corrosion resistant Corten steel; aluminum alloy is used for trunks over mess, litter, and passenger spaces, etc; length oa is 44 ft 10 1/2 in., beam oa 12 ft 8 in., and draft 3 ft 2 1/2 in.; two diesel engines each produce 200 shp.
