Berkely pit at Butte, Mont, handles 125,000 tpd of ore and waste with truck fleet consisting of 53-34 ton trucks, 16-60 ton Haulpaks and 26-65 ton Haulpaks as well as several 60 and 65 ton diesel and electric wheel units; for control and study purposes, monthly truck availability report is prepared from daily status reports; all of records are scrutinized; important trends are noted and steps taken to correct or improve on any of maintenance steps in overall program.
