Principle employed by Eaton Mfg Co, Kalamazoo, Mich, in construction of Fuller Roadranger RT-910, 10-speed, and RT-915, 15-speed, gearboxes for commercial vehicles; twin countershafts are employed for low-range reduction gear, at rear of unit, and cone-type synchronizers facilitate engagement of dog clutch; mainshaft is hollow and floats, gear case has 22-7/8-in. oa length and 22-15/16 in. and 14-in. oa width and height respectively; for Roadranger RT-915, 15-speed gearbox extra reduction gear train is incorporated in separate housing bolted to rear of gearcase; both gearboxes are available with 0.81.1 overdrive top speed.
