New 9850 tons gross ship completely designed and built in Australia will carry combined passenger-vehicle deck service from Sydney to selected ports in Tasmania; ship is of roll-on, roll-off type and is fitted with special equipment which will lift, singly or in multiple, and stow cargo-carrying units with minimum manpower; 2 MAN diesel engines will deliver 6750 hp to give ship cruising speed of 17 knots and top speed of 19.5 knots; comparison is made with Princess of Tasmania on same service.
