It is predicted that piston engines driving propellers will gradually disappear; jet propulsion will be used for high speed military craft; passenger craft will have propellers driven by gas turbines; next advance will be aircraft driven by jet propulsion turbines at 500 mph or more; in distant future propulsive ducts may be means of propulsion at speeds of 1000 mph.
