Reciprocating engines have no place in British plans except for small feeder liners; present types will serve for about 10 yr until turbine engine airplanes are ready; compounding, to boost present type gasoline engines for power or to improve fuel economy, has been ruled out; author does not foresee longer ranges than 3000 mi for aircraft fitted with jet turbine and believes propeller turbine would be used for longer range aircraft.
