During 1940 and 1941 series of modifications was incorporated in typical light airplane to increase its safety; they included decreasing wing incidence, increasing wing washout, increasing area and aspect ratio of horizontal and vertical tails, moving elevators out of propeller slipstream, depressing thrust axis, and limiting rudder travel.
