Development of side frames and truck bolsters from types in use around 1910 to modern high speed freight car truck; present day 50ton truck has weight of about 14,000 lb in Grade "B" steel, and is capable of transporting 110,000 lb safely and without damage at speeds up to 100 mph; series of tables shows design progress for various materials.
