Ice breaking automobile and train ferry Abegweit, built by Marine Industries Ltd, Sorel, Canada, for ferry route between Borden, Prince Edward Island, and Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick, across Northumberland Strait; length 372 ft; breadth extreme 63 ft; depth molded 24 ft; propelled by eight Dominion-Sulzer 4-stroke, 6-cyl Diesel engines developing 1500 bhp driving 310-v d-c generators; there are three car tracks and 19 freight cars can be carried in addition to 60 automobiles.
