Problems presented as result of repairing merchant vessels under special conditions resulting from war, and manner in which they were solved; cases quoted show how damaged vessels were made seaworthy by temporary repairs carried out in odd places and with limited facilities; use of welding in ship construction as it affects ship repairing.
