During last 6 1/2 yr, Chesapeake and Ohio has installed cathodic protection in 48 steel water service tanks; with this method of protection, no detrimental effects have been observed, interior corrosion below water level has been stopped, and substantial savings are reported compared with cost of repainting interiors of tanks below water level.
