Car supplied by Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Co, has two saloon compartments; driving compartment at each end for working in either direction; length over buffers 68 ft 7 in.; speed 60 mph; equipped with 3-cyl engine, 5 1/2 in. diam by 8 in. stroke developing 175 bhp on jack shaft at 40 mph; boiler is double-locomotive "Yorkshire" type with superheater, adapted for burning Belgian coal.
