Before its impact on moon six television cameras of Ranger VII spacecraft took 4316 excellent-quality photographs of Moon's surface at distances ranging from about 2100-km down to 480-m; resolution achieved in last photograph was 25-cm, 1000 times better than best previously achieved with Earth-based equipment; history of Ranger program, description of spacecraft, television-camera system, flight profile, lunar photographs, analysis and interpretation of photographs.
