Summary of problems encountered with inspection and maintenance practices of rear-engined double- and single-deckers; life of some components, gear boxes, for example, is not so long with some rear-engined buses as with forward-engined ones, and accessibility to some units is difficult; various examples are illustrated; it seems that major problem associated with modern bus as far as maintenance engineer is concerned is its greater complexity, and further training of maintenance staff is recommended.
