There are many agencies which promulgate brake regulations, namely, Interstate Commerce Commission, Uniform Vehicle Code, state legislation, National Highway Users Conference, Inc, and ASA; National Education Assn in its "Minimum Standards for School Buses" approved some changes in its recommendations for brake systems which include service, emergency, and parking brakes; proposed new legislation on split systems is critically assessed and number of other ways of splitting system for commercial medium and heavy vehicles which are better than straight axle-by-axle split are considered; requirements of good emergency brake system are listed.
